Benriach have long been a distillery to keep your eye out for if you're interested in whiskies with inventive maturation periods, and here's a perfect example! This 21 year old has been drawn from a mixture of four casks - bourbon barrels, virgin oak casks, Pedro Ximenéz Sherry casks and red wine casks.
Wonderful opening with punchy oak and fruit orchard. Some air develops the nose to show some candy floss and exotic fruits like papaya. Chocolate like start in the palate with a subtle gingery feeling, ripe plums, cranberry and light coffee. Really long giving you some cereal notes blended with honey and touches of caramel.
