This is a single estate Tequila from Casa San Matias that is aged for 26 months in a barrel that previously held W.L. Weller 12 year Wheated Bourbon from the Buffalo Trace Distillery. Wheated Bourbons have a distinct sweetness that certainly carries over in the barrel influence on this Tequila. The roasted agave flavors are amped up and enrobed in toasty oak and vanilla with some prickly herbal notes on the lengthy finish.
Aromas of oak, caramel, almond and chocolate greet you and then meld into notes of eucalyptus, walnuts and maple. FLAVOR: The mid-palate flavor is moderately sweet with heavily cooked agave along with toasted vanilla. The silky finish is long, oaky, and intense.
